Homes in Çatalhöyük were made of mud bricks and constructed directly next to each other, with almost no space between them. These tightly packed homes had no doors or windows at ground level. Instead, entry was made through openings in the roof, accessed via ladders. This design offered protection from wild animals and rival groups.

Inside, each home featured a hearth for cooking and heating, along with a special platform used for burials. Many households also included bull skulls as sacred objects, placed inside homes and temples alike.

The most iconic figure is the Seated Mother Goddess, often referred to as Kybele. Unlike abstract forms found in other ancient sites like Göbekli Tepe, the goddess of Çatalhöyük stands out as one of the earliest human-shaped representations of divine power. She set the foundation for future Anatolian deities such as Demeter, Hecate, and the Virgin Mary.
